Chelsea defender http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/David-Luiz-c10542 wants to win trophies on consistent basis – Football news
The Chelsea defender has admitted that the team needs to perform on a consistent basis and is targeting an improved next season.
The Blues ended the season in third place in the English Premier League behind the likes of Manchester United and Manchester City. The team ended the season with some success as they secured the UEFA Europa League title last week after beating Benfica in
Amsterdam with a 2-1 score line.
Luiz claimed that the team has ended the season on a high and the side needs to take that winning mentality into the next season. He admitted that playing under a different manager will be difficult initially but insisted that the team needs to adapt quickly
to compete for major trophies next season.
The Brazilian international stated that http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Chelsea-c38786 is a big club and the players cannot afford to be complacent at any time of the season.
“When we change the coach the mentality needs to be the same. When you play for a big club you need to win games and titles, and we wait for the next coach and for him we want to win titles. This is a big club,” he was quoted as saying in an interview.
Luiz admitted that the season ended was a difficult one for the players and the fans as the team was inconsistent throughout the course of the campaign. However, winning the Europa League has brought some happiness and the defender is willing to add on to
that in the next season.
“All the season was so difficult but when you can win one European title and qualify for the Champions League directly then it was amazing. All my team-mates focus on winning because if you play for a big team you need to focus all the time,” he concluded.
Rafa Benitez has left the club as he was the interim manager for the season. The club is looking for a new manager in the summer but there are reports that Jose Mourinho will be brought back to Stamford Bridge after Real Madrid announced his exit earlier
this week.
