Wessel Weezenberg, the player’s agent, claimed that the move would be a huge step in the player’s career as he will look to play regular football with the German giants. He admitted that the player’s chance to break into the first team at Chelsea was very
difficult but he will be able to get ample opportunities with Rothosen to prove himself at the highest stage.
“It is important Jeffrey gets playing. For him this is a good step. We have chosen stability for Jeffrey. These two years Jeffrey has to play and he can settle in this way.
At Chelsea that will be difficult, but in Hamburg the chance is bigger. However, he will have to prove it by himself,” he was quoted as saying in an interview.
Weezenberg insisted that Bruma will learn a lot in his time at Hamburg and it will surely be a breakthrough period in his career. He also played down rumours that it was former Chelsea Technical Director, Frank Arnesen, who had influenced the deal and claimed
that the club were after the youngster for a considerable period.
“For him it is a good step. Hamburg is and remains a top team, with a fantastic stadium and a giant fanbase. Hamburg followed Jeff for years before Arnesen came to work here,” the agent concluded.
Jeffrey Bruma made 11 appearances in the Championship for Leicester City, scoring two goals in his six-month loan spell. The centre-back made only nine first team appearances in his two seasons at Stamford Bridge.
