Chelsea defender John Terry confident of beating Manchester United to Premier League title
Chelsea skipper http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/John-Terry-c18895 is confident that his team can beat Manchester United to the 2010-11 English Premier League title.
Arsenal beat Manchester United 1-0 at the Emirates Stadium on Sunday, May 1, 2011. Because of the defeat, United’s lead on top of the League table is cut short to only three points over second placed http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Chelsea-c38786.
The Blues will travel to Old Trafford for their next League fixture and a potential title decider. Terry believes that if they are able to beat United and go on to win the title, it would be one of their best achievements in recent years.
Terry also hailed his team’s remarkable comeback from a drastic slump in form earlier in the season. The 30-year-old admitted that his team was ruled out of the title race at one point of time after drifting the Red Devils by 18 points in March 2011.
Talking to the reporters Terry said, “It would certainly be up there, along with when we won it for the first time in 50 years. There have been times when they were running away with it. United were 18 points clear at one point [sic - 15 on March 1] which
I thought made them out of sight, so to get it down to three points shows what we've done.”
“We certainly never give up and this is the ideal situation for us. United have still got some tough games to go,” added the http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/England-c749 captain.
Terry admitted that he was an Arsenal supporter for the 90 minutes of the game and thanked the Gunners for bringing them back into the title race. The centre-half also hailed his club manager Carlo Ancelotti for his impact on lifting the players when they
were down and out at one point.
Terry feels that his team is in the right shape to go to Old Trafford and snatch a victory to draw level on points with Sir Alex Ferguson’s men. The title race is set to go down to the wire, as both teams have the same goal difference and the winner of the
Old Trafford clash will have one hand on the title.
