Chelsea defender http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Slobodan-Rajkovic-c33708 heading to Hamburg SV after failure to acquire work permit
Chelsea defender Slobodan Rajkovic has not received his work permit to remain in http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/England-c749, which is why the 22-year-old Serbian international will be leaving for German side Hamburg SV on a loan move. The Bundesliga outfit are expected to complete a long
term deal for the talented defender soon, after which it will be announced to the media.
Chelsea signed Rajkovic in the winter transfer window of 2005 for a record breaking fee of €5.2 million for the then 16-year-old Serbian. Shortly after the move was completed, Rajkovic was loaned back to his former side http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/OFK-Beograd-c40109 until the end of the 2006-2007
season. In the summer of 2007, the central defender was sent to a further loan move to PSV Eindhoven.
Back then he was still considered too young and inexperienced to feature for the first team at Stamford Bridge. In addition to that the Blues had been successful in their pursuit of http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Alex-c4752, the Brazilian defender, which is why they did not feel the need to
bring in Rajkovic just as yet. The London side had more than sufficient defenders present, which is why Rajkovic was sent to FC Twente for regular football.
Despite http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/FC-Twente-c39233, where he stayed until the summer of 2010.  He was then loaned
out to http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Matej-Delac-c24618 for a season.
Under new http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Chelsea-c38786 manager Andre Villas-Boas Rajkovic returned to Stamford Bridge, where a renewed effort was made to acquire a work permit by the club for the Serbian international. The player featured for the Blues in their pre-season tour of Asia, where
he played his first game against Wycombe Wanderers in a closed door game.
He was unable to feature for the Blues against Portsmouth since the match was opened to the public and Rajkovic was not permitted to play since he did not possess a work permit. However, he made his first start for Chelsea against Malaysian XI and then also
featured against http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Kitchee-c39721 SC. His performance impressed Villas-Boas, who was waiting on the work permit to come through.
However, the player has still not yet met the work-permit criteria and with the Blue’s appeal having failed, it seems Rajkovic is heading towards a Stamford Bridge exit. His destination seems to be Hamburg, where former Chelsea sporting director Frank Arnesen
now has a similar role. He revealed in an interview that the club was close to signing a defender, further adding to the speculation surrounding Rajkovic.
Arnesen said while speaking to reporters:
“We will sign a defender in the next 10 days.”
