Chelsea dismiss Carlo Ancelotti quit rumours
Chelsea have rubbished rumours that manager Carlo Ancelotti may quit the club due to lack of control over his team.
Ancelotti has come under heavy pressure over recent weeks after his decision to sack Ray Wilkins as assistant coach and due to Chelsea's three defeats in the last four matches.
"He is contracted until 2012 and speculation about his future is total nonsense," a Chelsea statement read on Sky
Sports News.
The rumours of Ancelotti's discontent at the club are thought to be over the lack of control he has as opposed to a manager like Sir Alex Ferguson at Manchester United. Ferguson
has always been the best example of a manager in total control of his club.
Ancelotti has made it clear that he would like a similar level of control that Ferguson currently enjoys, which for some reason isn't possible at the moment. However, he has
accepted that as manager he has to take the criticism for recent defeats.
"You compare me with Ferguson, it's a different position. Ferguson has total control
of the team. I have just technical direction. Full stop. OK? Obviously when the team doesn't win people put more responsibility on the coach. But this is normal," Ancelotti told Sky Sports.
Ancelotti has defended his team from critics by suggesting that Chelsea is simply suffering from a goal drought. He insists the side is playing freely and creating a lot
of chances, which are simply not being converted.
"We lost because we have scored just one goal in four games. We have to improve, to stay more in focus. We didn't score against
Birmingham because we were unlucky. We've lost three in four and this is not good. But I'm not worried about the team. We just have to move on," he added.
Betting advice
Chelsea is still joint top of the Premier League despite having suffered over recent weeks. Ancelotti's side is still a very good bet to win the Premier League and Champions
League. The Italian has the experience to deal with any further problems that arise and doesn't look as though he will walk away from the club.
