Nuri Sahin close to Borussia Dortmund exit
English Premier League defending champions Chelsea are keeping a close watch on Nuri Sahin, the 22-year-old Borussia Dortmund midfielder, who refused to renew his contract with the German side. The http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Chelsea-c38786 squad, with his attacking style of play and a knack of scoring goals.
Chelsea are currently on the look-out for players, after a particularly disappointing campaign. The Blues are close to ending the season without any silverware and will be looking forward to refurbish their squad with fresh talent. Sahin fits the bill and if the Turkish midfielder does not reach an agreement with Dortmund, he will most likely end up in the Premier League.
The Bundesliga outfit have tried their best to retain the player but to no avail. Hans-Joachim Watzke, the Borussia Dortmund CEO, revealed Sahin moving away was a possibility.
He said while speaking to reporters, “We have already tried to extend his deal. Unfortunately this has still not yet succeeded. If Nuri gets an offer he has every right to talk about it with us.”
Sahin signed with Borussia Dortmund in 2005 when he was only 16 years old, becoming the youngest player to have played in the German league. Since then, he has been on-loan to http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Feyenoord-c39258 for a season, where he made 34 appearances, scoring 6 goals and providing 5 assists. In five seasons at Dortmund, Sahin has made a total of 152 appearances, with 17 goals and an impressive 36 assists.
Florent Malouda feeling stronger
Chelsea winger Florent Malouda revealed he was feeling stronger after scoring 2 goals in the 3-1 win over Birmingham City at Stamford Bridge. The Frenchman had been facing poor form and a goal drought, both of which he ended against Birmingham. The 30-year-old has renewed faith that his side can finish the season on a high, after their performance against West Brom and Birmingham.
Malouda said, “Mentally and physically I feel strong again. When you score two goals in a game you feel you are back to your best form. Maybe it is because we have fewer games to play and we have more time to prepare, but I am working hard in training to prepare the best of my form and have the result in the games. It is great also to have the confidence of the players around me.”
The Blues are currently at second place, tied on points with third place http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Arsenal-Maseru-c38430 and six points behind league leaders Manchester United. With five games remaining in the season, there looks to be a chance the Blues can retain the Premier League crown. However, they will have to win their remaining matches and hope Manchester United lose at least two of their games.
