Chelsea chase Alex Serrano and Neymar Da Silva
Chelsea are the latest side to join the race for 16-year-old Alex Serrano, the Sporting Gijon youth team's star. La Liga giants Barcelona and Real Madrid are also keeping a close watch on the striker, who is considered to be one of the best upcoming strikers in Europe.
The youngster has put in some very impressive performances for Sporting Gijon’s youth team, which explains why some of the top European clubs are determined to land him. The Blues could very well make an official move for Serrano in the upcoming summer transfer window.
Chelsea have still not given up on Santos striker Neymar Da Silva, their target over the summer transfer window. Piet de Visser, a member of the Blues coaching staff confirmed the London side was still determined as ever to bring Neymar to Stamford Bridge. De Visser said while speaking to the Brazilian media, “I have watched some players and, yes, Neymar I came to follow more closely.”
Chelsea manager Carlo Ancelotti came very close to signing the 19-year-old last summer, but the youngster claimed he did not want to move to Chelsea. However, De Visser was just at the South American youth championship which sparked rumors that the Blues had not given up on the player. Neymar has played for the senior Brazilian side despite being so young and was the top scorer with nine goals in the youth championship.
Barcelona set up youth academy near Chelsea
According to recent reports, Barcelona are set to hold coaching classes for children at the ACS school in Cobham, which will start in April. The classes will be for children aged 6 to 16 and will start off with about 300 children and expand depending on how successful it is.
The Barcelona staff does not seem to think the location of the youth academy to be a problem, despite it being very close to Chelsea. Julio Alberto, the former Barcelona defender said, “The fact we are near Chelsea is not an issue. If there is any surprise I will explain it to (Roman) Abramovich myself.” Roman Abramovich will certainly not be pleased and with players like Messi coming out of the Barcelona youth system, Alberto will have a lot of explaining to do.
