Chelsea eye Queens Park Rangers’ Adel Taarabt, who claims his move to Tottenham Hotspur was a mistake
English Premier League defending champions Chelsea are reportedly interested in bringing in http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Adel-Taarabt-c3610, the Queens Park Rangers' (QPR) attacking midfielder c*m striker worth an estimated £8 million. The Morocco international has previously played in the
Premier League for Tottenham Hotspur but failed to make an impression for the London side in his short time there.
Taarabt arrived at White Hart Lane on a loan deal from Ligue 1 side Lens but managed to earn a permanent contract. However, he failed to impress Juande Ramos or his replacement Harry Redknapp and was sent to Queens Park http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Rangers-c40314 on a loan for the 2008-2009
season. It took two seasons to make his move to the Championship side permanent; he did so in 2010 for an estimated fee of £1 million.
The 21-year-old did well with the Championship side and it wasn’t long until he had managed to establish himself in the first team. After QPR captain Martin Rowlands picked up an injury Taarabt was given the captain’s armband as he continued with his excellent
form. Even though he claims to be happy at QPR, he revealed he felt he would have done better at Arsenal rather than at Spurs.
He said, “The man who took me to Tottenham was Damien Comolli, now at http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Liverpool-c39809. He was at Arsenal then. But, when I was going to go to Arsenal, he moved to Tottenham. He told me: 'Come to Tottenham. We want to do like they do at Arsenal and take the best
young players in the world. You're going to have a better chance there.’ I believed him. This was a mistake and I regret it. Tottenham tried to do it like Arsenal but it's a different culture. I would have had a better chance at Arsenal. I would progress with
Arsene Wenger. He is a legend in France, one of the best managers in the world.”
The Frenchman has made 37 appearances for the Championship side this season and has scored 15 goals. He has two years remaining on his existing contract but is expected to make a move if the right amount is offered for his services. Even though he has previously
expressed his desire to play for Arsenal, a move to London rivals http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Chelsea-c38786 might not be too bad.
With the departure of star striker http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Didier-Drogba-c11044 imminent, the Blues will be looking to bring in a young replacement. Taarabt fits the bill and has the makings of one of the best strikers in England, if not Europe, with the right guidance. He will surely
receive that at Stamford Bridge under the guidance of Carlo Ancelotti.
The 21-year-old attacking midfielder recently picked up the Football League player of the year award after he led his side to the top of the Championship. It was mostly due to his efforts and his 15 goals this season which has guaranteed QPR a promotion
to the Premier League next season. However, with the recent interest from top sides there is a possibility that Taarabt might not be at the club for the next campaign.
