Chelsea eye Torres while Ferguson looks elsewhere
Chelsea plan to bid £30million for Liverpool striker Fernando Torres.
The Spanish striker is wanted by the Premier League champions as well as Manchester City. Torres has recently said he will discuss his future with Liverpool when he returns from holiday after the World Cup.
Chelsea look set to miss out on the Netherlands right-back Gregory van der Wiel, who is likely to make a switch to Bayern Munich. Wesley Sneijder will turn down a move to Manchester United and stay with Inter Milan. United were set to offer £29million for the Dutchman.
Manchester United manager Sir Alex Ferguson will switch his attentions to German playmaker Mesut Özil, who is valued at around £25million.
Manchester City are set to offer Chelsea £20million for Didier Drogba and former Arsenal goalkeeper Richard Wright. City have also turned down a £16.7million bid for Robinho from Turkish side Beșiktaș.
Barcelona will have to sell striker Zlatan Ibrahimovic if they want to buy Arsenal’s Cesc Fabrégas while former Arsenal player Jermaine Pennant could be on his way to Napoli from Real Zaragoza.
Aston Villa have told Manchester City they will accept player exchanges for midfielder James Milner. Stoke player Amdy Faye could sign for Leicester City, while Blackpool want keeper Andy Lonergan.
West Ham’s improved bid of £5.5milion for Graham Dorrans has been turned down by West Brom.
Steven Pienaar is a target for Tottenham Hotspur.
