Chelsea goal keeper Petr Cech remains positive about his side’s chances of a double
Chelsea goal keeper http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Petr-Cech-c29837 revealed he believed that his side still had a shot at the Premier League crown especially with league leader Manchester United going through a rough patch. The Blues beat Manchester City 2-0 over the weekend to move to third
place in the Premier League table, which shows they are slowly but surely returning to winning ways.
With a game in hand, the defending champions are now nine points behind Manchester United and seem to have a better chance to catching up with Sir Alex Ferguson’s side. Even though Chelsea went through a terrible slump in mid-season they have seemed to recover
and could very well be in contention for both the Premier League and the Champions League.
Having beaten Manchester United 2-1 at Stamford Bridge earlier this season, Chelsea have to take on the Red Devils three more times. As luck would have it, Chelsea drew Manchester United in the quarterfinals of the Champions League and still have to travel
to Old Trafford in the domestic competition. The Blues’ chances of winning any silverware this season rely mostly on their performance against Manchester United in both the competitions.
However, the Chelsea number one was confident his side still had a decent chance of retaining the Premier League crown. The Czech international said while speaking to reporters, “Manchester must spread energy into three competitions because apart from the
Premier League they are still in the FA Cup and in the Champions League quarter-final against us.”
Ferguson’s side are competing for the treble, the FA Cup, Premier League and Champions League and Cech feels that might give http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Rio-Ferdinand-c31173, Rafael
and John O’Shea while Johnny Evans will be unavailable due to suspension, for a tackle on http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Stuart-Holden-c34260 in their match against Bolton on Saturday.
It is for these reasons that Cech is confident the Blues can take advantage of the injuries and suspensions at Old Trafford and work towards climbing further up the Premier League table. The 28-year-old stopper continued, “They have got a lot of injured
players and some are suspended. Anyway, we must keep winning and hope they drop points along the way.”
Both sides have a tough April coming up in terms of fixtures and with not enough time in between games, the weaker side will surely succumb to the pressure. Chelsea travel to Stoke, after which they host Manchester United in the Champions League. A clash
against Wigan Athletic is sandwiched between the two legs of the Champions League quarter final, after which the Blues will take on West Brom, Birmingham City, West Ham United and Tottenham Hotspur.
