With growing speculation regarding Chelsea manager Carlo Ancelotti’s future at Stamford Bridge, the Blues goal keeper Petr Cech spoke in support of the Italian manager.
The 28-year-old http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Czech-Republic-c2882 international said he did not think the manager was responsible for the disappointing season.
Chelsea look to be ending this season without any silverware, which comes as a big disappointment after winning the domestic double last season.
In his first season with the London club, Ancelotti led Chelsea to their first double of the English Premier League and the FA Cup.
Unfortunately he failed to recreate his success this season, which could very well end his time in charge of http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Chelsea-c38786.
The Chelsea owner Roman Abramovich is understood to be extremely disappointed with the manager and the squad and is looking to make some changes.
While Ancelotti is expected to be sacked at the end of the season, many senior players are linked with a move away.
The Russian billionaire seems to be under the impression that the replacement of Ancelotti and the arrival of a few new signings will help Chelsea claim the coveted UEFA Champions League.
The European Cup is the one trophy the Blues have not been able to win so far, that was mainly the reason why Ancelotti was brought in.
The former AC Milan manager has won the Champions League four times, twice as a player and twice as a manager with the Serie A giants.
He has failed to deliver, with the Blues facing elimination in the quarter-finals of the European competition to Premier League rivals Manchester United.
Abramovich has been on the look-out for a replacement and the likes of Jose Mourinho, Guus Hiddink and Andre Villas Boas have been linked with the job at Stamford Bridge.
However, most of the players at the London club revealed they felt the Italian coach did not deserve to be sacked.
First team stopper Cech revealed that while he did not necessarily agree with all the decisions the club made, he had to accept them.
Cech said while speaking to reporters, “Last year was very successful for the club with the manager. This season we know it didn't happen as we all wished. Now this is the decision of the club, not the players.”
He said he anticipated changes to be made to the squad and management, as was expected at the end of every campaign for the preparation for the next season.
The Chelsea number one continued, “We will see what is going to happen in the summer. After every season there are a few changes in the team to refresh the dressing room.”
