Chelsea goalkeeper http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Petr-Cech-c29837: ‘We aren't throwing the towel in yet’
Chelsea FC goalkeeper Petr Cech has reacted to his side’s 3-1 defeat, at the Emirates Stadium, against Arsenal FC in the English Premier League. http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Chelsea-c38786 displayed a lacklustre performance on Monday night and lacked creativity on
the pitch.
Arsenal, who were more confident in their play and movement, passed the ball effectively and retained the lime share of possession during the game.
The home side took the lead just before the half-time interval through their midfielder http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Alex-Song-c4804. He was able to shoot past Cech after latching on to a neat through pass from captain Cesc Fabregas.
Chelsea were unable to recover from the initial goal and could not find their feet in the 2nd half either.
http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Florent-Malouda-c13838 were responsible for the 2nd and 3rd Arsenal goals as they gave away possession cheaply in the middle of the park.
Although the away side pulled a goal back after going 3-0 down, it wasn’t enough to avoid defeat and the match ended with a 3-1 score line.
Cech was unable to pinpoint the missing link in their side’s performance. In a post match interview he said, “We are not used to seeing Chelsea play the way we are playing at the moment. The reality is we aren't doing the right
things on the pitch, we are making mistakes and we got punished for the mistakes. On the second and third goals, it was really unlike Chelsea.”
He added, "We are making the wrong choices all over the pitch, defensive-wise and attacking-wise. We have stopped doing the things we were doing at the start of the season when we didn't concede goals and we were scoring a lot.
Credit to everyone, we keep working on it and nobody's panicking. We aren't throwing the towel in yet because we know everything can change fast."
Tottenham Hotspur’s 2-0 home win against Newcastle United on Tuesday, means Chelsea are 5th in the league table.
Carlo Ancelotti has never faced such troubling times during his stay at Stamford Bridge; his side is without a win in their last 6 matches, including 3 draws and 3 defeats.
However, the defending champions will be hopeful of ending their worst run of form in the league for over a decade, when they face Bolton Wanderers on Wednesday night at Stamford Bridge.
