Chelsea goalkeeper http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Petr-Cech-c29837 says they are Manchester United’s rivals for Premier League title
Chelsea goalkeeper Petr Cech has insisted that http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Chelsea-c38786 will fight Manchester United for the current 2010-11 Premier League title.
Cech admitted that Arsenal have blown their chance once again after dropping points in the past few weeks with draws against http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Liverpool-c39809 and Tottenham Hotspur.
Chelsea have emerged as surprising title contenders after a good second half of the season and are a mere 6 points behind the Red Devils in second place with 64 points. The Blues leapfrogged their London rivals Arsenal after a win over Birmingham City as
the Gunners drew 3-3 at White Hart Lane.
Cech claimed that Arsenal should have won against Tottenham after being 3-1 up but they threw their chances away of closing the gap on Manchester United. He added that the Gunners had many chances to catch the leaders but they have dropped too many points
recently.
“Arsenal had a big game against Tottenham. They were 3-1 up and threw it away. Now they are third for the first time in a long time so let’s see how they cope with this new situation. They had plenty of chances this season to close the gap and haven’t taken
them yet,” the Chelsea player was quoted as saying in an interview.
The http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Czech-Republic-c2882 international added that the Pensioners are still in the race for the Premier League title as both Manchester United and Arsenal have some difficult games left in the season. He hoped that the leaders drop points on their way to the end
of the season which could give Chelsea a chance to catch up on them.
The shot stopper stated that United have the UEFA Champions League semi-finals to play against Schalke 04 and the added pressure could take its toll on the leaders. Cech also insisted that the goal difference could play a major part at the end of the season
and stated the importance of scoring in every game.
“They have to play a semi-final, so let’s see how they cope. We have one competition to focus on which is to our advantage because we can prepare all week and get more rest. Everything is close and it is important to score goals. We could end up with the
same number of points, so goal difference will play a big part now,” he concluded.
Chelsea still have to play Manchester United at Old Trafford on May 8, 2011 and have difficult home games against West Ham United and Tottenham Hotspur which could be crucial in their fight for the title at the end of the season.
The Blues are in a brilliant run of form and have collected 19 out of a possible 21 points from their last seven games.
