Chelsea goalkeeper Petr Cech urges his side to improve their form
Chelsea goalkeeper Petr Cech claimed that his side has to win the three upcoming matches to assume safely that they have put their bad form behind them. Carlo Ancelotti’s side has seemingly returned to winning ways as they recorded
back-to-back victories for the first time in two months. The first 7-0 win came over Ipswich Town in the third round of the FA Cup on 9 January and they continued their winning form with a 2-0 victory over Blackburn http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Rovers-c40385 in the Premier League on 15 January,
which saw them move up to fourth place in the Premier League table.
In the FA Cup fixture against Ipswich Town, Carlo Ancelotti played a relatively inexperienced side. The Italian manager chose to start with http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Didier-Drogba-c11044. Surprisingly, the change paid off
as Sturridge scored two goals along with midfielder http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Nicolas-Anelka-c27786 grabbing a goal each. Ancelotti built up on the success as he warned his tired stars that he would not hesitate to make changes to the side for
the fixture against Blackburn.
Ancelotti’s bluff worked, as the Italian coach went ahead and started with his first team at its very best. Although their very best was not good enough as compared to when they started the season, it was enough to secure a win
and a very important three points. Cech is certain that the Blues need to extend their winning run well into the next month if they wish to banish their poor form for good. Considering the fact that this has been Chelsea’s worst form in over 15 years, the
first team goalkeeper urged his side to improve.
While speaking to reporters, Cech said, “It was extremely important that against Blackburn we managed to follow the performance from the Ipswich game. From the beginning, you could see confidence in our play and we converted it
into two goals and, thanks to a good defensive play with a thorough approach, we managed to claim the three points. Besides the outcome, we were satisfied mainly with our performance and with the way how we reached the win.”
Cech further added, “However, this is just the first step we have made to end the bad streak of results. In order to be able to say, 'OK, it's beyond us', we need to win four or five games in the style like against Blackburn.”
The Blues will have to be in top-notch form if they intend to win all three of their next fixtures, which are away matches. Chelsea start off with a match against Bolton Wanderers in the Premier League, followed by an FA Cup fourth round fixture against Everton
and then another away match at the Stadium of Light against Sunderland.
http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Petr-Cech-c29837 and the rest of the Chelsea squad alike will be aware that they cannot afford to lose any of their upcoming fixtures if they want to qualify for Champions League football next season. A spot in the Top 4 could easily
bring the Blues back into the title race, depending on how the other Top 3 sides perform during this time. http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Chelsea-c38786 are currently seven points behind league leaders Manchester United, who still have a game in hand. By the time, the Blues face Sir Alex Ferguson’s
side the difference could be as much as ten points so it is essential that Chelsea maintain their form.
