Chelsea happy at Stamford Bridge says club chairman Buck Bruce
Chelsea chairman Bruce Buck revealed that the English Premier League side had not yet reached a decision regarding a possible move away from their current home ground Stamford Bridge. They have however, confirmed that they are involved in efforts to regain
the shares from the Chelsea Pitch Owners company.
The Chelsea Pitch Owners company was formed in 1993 in an attempt to save the Blues home from the vicious property dealers. For that to happen, the club will have to buy the shares from the supporters to regain complete control over the ground.
After which the club would be able to move to another location, if that is what is decided on at the end of the day. A new stadium or any changes to the current one will be unlikely if the club fails to get full ownership of the pitch and all the surrounding
stands.
The Blues’ chairman insisted that the London side had not reached a decision regarding the new stadium and were still considering their options. Bruce said that http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Chelsea-c38786 were currently satisfied at Stamford Bridge, which has been their home since 1905, and
had not been in talks with any developers.
Bruce said in an interview:
“At the moment we have had no discussions ongoing with any developer. We still have not made the decision that yes, Chelsea want to move.
More significantly, we are looking at whether our stadium might be the right size. With people [potentially] watching matches on their wristwatches in the great digital unknown, do we know what the right size is for Chelsea or any other club?”
While it is no secret that the Blues do not generate as much funds from Stamford Bridge as the other top four sides do from their respective stadiums, Bruce was adamant Chelsea were in no rush for a new stadium. The Chelsea chairman concluded that the London
side would consider a good opportunity if it came along.
He continued:
“At the moment I am saying we are happy at Stamford Bridge. We have no concrete intentions to move but just like any business looking at the future we look at anything that comes along.”
