Chelsea join race for David De Gea
Defending English Premier League champions Chelsea have reportedly joined current league leaders Manchester United in an attempt to sign http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/David-de-Gea-c10463, the 20-year-old Atletico Madrid goal keeper. While previous reports claimed that Manchester United had
already agreed a deal with the La Liga side, Atletico have denied all such rumors.
Los Colchoneros however, have confirmed that Chelsea are also competing for the signature of the Spain under-21 international. The player’s agent has traveled to England to discuss possible deals with both the English Premier League suitors but he apparently
does not have the authority to negotiate on behalf of the player which means the ultimate decision lies with De Gea.
The Atletico Madrid boss, Gil Marin said while speaking to reporters, “[De Gea's agent Jorge] Mendes is in England, but not to negotiate a deal for De Gea. Mendes does not have the authority to act on behalf of De Gea. At the end of the season we will see
if he wants to leave. If he wants to go, we’ll refer to his €25m buy-out clause. Until then we count on him to remain with us.”
He revealed that while they had received plenty of offers for the Spanish goal keeper, there was a possibility that De Gea could end up staying with Atletico Madrid. He continued, “We’ve received offers from both United and Chelsea [for De Gea]. He also
has an offer from us to renew his deal. We’d like him to stay here, but David’s future is entirely in his own hands.”
