Chelsea keeper http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Petr-Cech-c29837 confident his side can beat Manchester United to the title
http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Chelsea-c38786 goal keeper Petr Cech revealed that his side were the only competition Manchester United had to get past to win the Premier League this season. The Blues stopper did not think third place Arsenal stood a chance of winning the Premier League crown
after drawing 3-3 with Tottenham Hotspur in midweek.
While http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Arsenal-Maseru-c38430 were held at White Hart Lane, Chelsea went on to beat Birmingham City 3-1 and managed to climb to second place on the table. Cech said while speaking to reporters, “Arsenal had a big game against Tottenham. They were 3-1 up and threw it away.
Now they are third for the first time in a long time so let's see how they cope with this new situation.”
Cech did not think the Gunners would be able to present a challenge to his side or league leaders Manchester United. Their deteriorating form of the Gunners has only been made worse by injuries and it seems Arsene Wenger’s side will end up trophy-less once
again. This will be the sixth consecutive season Arsenal have failed to win a trophy.
The http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Czech-Republic-c2882 international was confident his side, who won the double last season, could manage an upset so close to the end of the season. Despite suffering their worst form in over 15 seasons, Chelsea have made an amazing recovery and have surprised
everyone to overtake Arsenal, and to emerge as title contenders.
Cech revealed the Blues were well past the slump they suffered mid-season and had returned to winning ways. He continued, “We've been saying for a long time we want to keep winning and maintain the pressure on everybody. Chelsea were one of the worst (teams
in the form guide) a few months ago and now we're getting back to normal.”
With the top of the table looking tight and with the possibility of it getting even tighter after the weekend, Cech revealed it was important to have more goals. The 28-year-old said, “Everything is close and it is important to score goals. We could end
up with the same number of points, so goal difference will play a big part now.”
Chelsea are currently at second place, tied with third place Arsenal on points but ahead on goal difference, six points behind Manchester United. With five games remaining in the season, there is renewed belief at the London side that they could retain the
Premier League crown. For that to happen, the Blues have to win their remaining fixtures, while United have to lose at least two games.
