Chelsea left-back Ashley Cole hungry for success with the Blues
Chelsea and http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/England-c749 left-back, Ashley Cole, revealed it was the Blues desire for success that had put them back in the title race so close to the end of the season.
The 30-year old has been an important part of the side that now stands a chance to retain the English Premier League title.
The London side went through a terrible mid-season slump, which saw them trail the league leaders Manchester United by 15 points.
However, they are now currently at second place in the Premier League, just three points behind Sir Alex Ferguson’s side.
To reclaim their spot at the top of the league once again the Blues will have to secure a win over Manchester United over the weekend. Chelsea travel to Old Trafford on May 8, 2011, in a must-win fixture for both sides.
While a win will bring Chelsea level on points with Manchester United, the Blues will go top of the table on goal difference. United have as much, if not more motivation to defeat Chelsea at Old Trafford, as a win will see them go six points clear with just
two games remaining.
Despite being written off from winning any silverware this season, the Blues have successfully re-entered the title race. The Blues defender felt it was his sides desire to win that had helped them present United with a challenge to the title this late in
the season.
Cole said while speaking to reporters, “When you win things, that's what makes you realise how good it is. I think the pressure is what drives people on. It makes you want to prove something, to carry on going and keep on winning things. I just want to win
anything because I love the feeling”.
The http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Chelsea-c38786 left-back continued, “When you stop getting that feeling, I think that's when a lot of players tend to stop playing football because they haven't got the desire any more. I've still got many years of that desire left in me and the players we
have here are all the same as me in that respect”.
http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Ashley-Cole-c6809 is considered to be one of the best defenders in the English Premier League if not the whole of Europe. Since he made his debut for the Blues, he has won the FA Cup three times, and the English Premier League, Carling Cup and Community Shield
once.
