Chelsea legend Marcel Desailly claims Manchester United will win the ongoing Premier League
Former Chelsea player http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Marcel-c23507 Desailly has tipped Manchester United to win the ongoing 2010-11 Premier League.
The Frenchman believes that Chelsea were favourites to defend their crown at the start of the campaign, but he claimed that the Blues’ inconsistency cost them the title.
Desailly bemoaned his former side’s inability to build on last season’s domestic double. The Blues won both the Premier League and FA Cup in the last campaign. However, it looks as if silverware will elude them completely this time around. Chelsea have already
been knocked out of the FA Cup, and they are almost certainly out of the running for the Premier League crown, as leaders Manchester United are already 9 points ahead of them in the title race.
In fact, the Red Devils are now favourites to go on and win a record breaking 19th Premier League title. Second placed Arsenal are five points adrift of United, and they also have a tendency to stumble at the finish line. Even Desailly has been
forced to admit that his former archrivals will achieve Premier League glory in the season.
Speaking on the matter, Desailly said, “Manchester United should win the league. They just keep going, always just ahead of everyone else. They have the consistency which other teams do not. You cannot help but be impressed.”
The Frenchman blamed Chelsea’s lack of consistency for their current predicament, though he admitted that injuries to key players have played a major part in the Blues’ downfall in the season.
He added, “http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Chelsea-c38786 have been too inconsistent and too many of their best players have been injured at the same time.  I have been disappointed to see Chelsea with so many problems. Some signings have taken too long to adapt to the team, which has cost them
too many points.”
Chelsea are currently in third place in the League standings, and even though they are 9 points off the pace, they still have a game in hand over Manchester United. If everything goes according to plan, the Blues may still be able to retain their Premier
League crown.
