Chelsea looking for European glory rather than English Premier League title
Chelsea fans are expecting that the win over Manchester United to light up the club’s hopes for the English Premier League (EPL) title. However, manager Carlo Ancelotti has accepted that the title is still out of their reach.
Ancelotti said there was no chance that Chelsea could make a late bid for the title. Last night’s match between the Red Devils and the Blues was highly dramatic and controversial. Bridge. The loss has dented ManU’s hopes of an easy title win as Arsenal, the contender for the Premier League title are looking pretty strong. For Chelsea, it is bit too late to get back into the groove.
The realistic Chelsea manager has said that their title hopes are over, but they are still waiting for their first UEFA Champions League title. He said that the dream of a European crown looked more realistic rather than chasing the shadows in the EPL. Chelsea
are currently at the fourth spot and are 12 points behind table toppers Manchester United. Ancelotti said, “We are too far from Manchester United and It’s difficult for them to lose points in the next few games.” He said his club needed to look into the near
future rather than far ahead. Chelsea are going strong in their UEFA Champions League campaign and have to play FC Copenhagen at Stamford Bridge. In the first leg, Chelsea won 2-0, courtesy to Nicolas Anelka’s double.
However, Chelsea midfielder still thinks his team can go for an attempt at the EPL title. He admitted that the gap in the leader board was great, but said his team had the ability to cross that gap. He talked of the team’s performance against Manchester
United and said they needed to keep playing the way they were. He said, “We did that today but there's still a long way to go. Manchester United are deservedly top but we've got some fight as we showed tonight.”
Talking about the ManU match, the midfielder said the match was a pressure game and in such a situation, it was hard for the referee as well. He thought the referee did really well, but the decisions he made could have gone either way.
Currently, Chelsea do seem to have a chance in the EPL if http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Liverpool-c39809 beat Manchester United and Chelsea win their own match against Blackpool. If this happens, the gap between the teams will be of just nine points. Chelsea are due to travel to Old Trafford
to play the second game of the season against Manchester United. The competition may come to a point where Arsenal and Chelsea face each other. Arsenal are currently second on the table with a point difference of four.
