Chelsea looking to tap Barcelona’s youth
The current reigning champions of England, Chelsea are rumored to be interested in a player that by no means seems to be Chelsea quality. The player that the team are looking to pursue is Barcelona’s prodigy, Bojan Krkic.
They twenty year old Spanish international, has so far found it close to impossible to guarantee a spot in the Barcelona starting eleven and as a result at times has looked to be highly frustrated, when on the pitch. Chelsea on the other hand are looking to boost their attack options for the future and currently don’t see anyone better than Bojan to do just that.
Both of Chelsea’s current top strikers, Didier Drogba and Nicolas Anelka are well in there thirties and wheather or not they would admit it, they are bound to retire sooner rather than later. On the other hand, the teams youngest attacking threat Daniel Sturridge, is yet to display the same tenacity that everyone has come to expect from the Chelsea attack and a s a result Carlo Ancelotti does not see him as the player on whom the team can rely on blindly in the future.
Most people would argue that Bojan has been at Barcelona since he was nine and he would in almost no circumstance leave the team that made him what he is. However despite making him the player that he is, it is unfair on the teams part to not let the player go, or encourage him to go to a team where he would get far more opportunities to play and develop. On the other hand, the player is rather pint sized to be a Chelsea player, however perhaps the like of Bojan is just what Chelsea have been lacking so far. The team seems to have almost every type of player, apart from the speedy smaller player, who has amazing close control and a very low turning radius. Bojan however could prove to be just that player.
Bojan in the past had also expressed his concern about staying at Barcelona and they were mostly because he felt that the likes of Pedro, despite joining the team much later than him were given more playing time then he did. Also with the likes of David Villa and Lionel Messi at the club, Bojan can only dream about breaking the starting eleven.
Despite the move seeming to be highly unlikely initially, on paper it doesn’t seem to be all that bad after all. Nonetheless a move for the player most probably won’t come for another season or two, but with Chelsea almost always getting what they want, it is going to be very hard for Barcelona to hold on to their man.
