Chelsea manager Andre Villas-Boas not confident of landing http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Álvaro-Pereira-c5297 from FC Porto - Report
Chelsea coach Andre Villas-Boas has revealed that although the club had made a bid for the services of Uruguayan star Alvaro Pereira, they haven’t been able to negotiate a fee with Portuguese giants FC Porto, making a move unlikely.
The Blues have been hot on the trail of the defender ever since selling the largely unused Yuri Zhirkhov to Anzhi Makhachkala and have been credited with making an official offer.
Although http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Chelsea-c38786 would pay the full amount and trigger his buyout clause.
The release figure is estimated to be in the region of around €30 million and was expected to be no match for the Londoners considerable financial muscle.
However, in a surprise turn of events, the Stamford Bridge officials have made a cheaper proposal than expected and although are retaining their interest in Alvaro Pereira, have refused to pump out more cash for the 25-year-old.
Speaking to reporters, Chelsea coach Andre Villas-Boas addressed the situation and said that while his side were willing to negotiate with their Portuguese counterparts, involved parties were unable to strike suitable transfer fee.
“The only thing I can confirm to you is that we have made a bid for him and we are very far apart in terms of numbers,” the former Porto trainer said.
When further questioned about his opinion on whether the much-talked about swoop would go through, Villas-Boas gave an uncertain answer and said that he was ‘not very confident’.
While the English outfit haven’t been able to work out the final details of the transfer just yet, they still remain the favourites to sign Alvaro Pereira after fending off competition from the big spending Paris Saint-Germain, who had also been monitoring
the progress of the talented left-back during the summer window.
