Chelsea manager Carlo Ancelotti: No special plans for Wayne Rooney
Chelsea manager Carlo Ancelotti has revealed that no special plans have been made to hold off Manchester United’s in-form striker Wayne Rooney ahead of the crucial second leg of the UEFA Champions League quarter-final on 12th April, 2011.
http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Wayne-Rooney-c36736’s first half strike in the first leg of the UEFA Champions League tie against Chelsea at Stamford Bridge proved to be the match decider and Carlo Ancelotti sees Rooney as the main threat to his sides’ European title ambitions.
Ancelotti said, “I think that, obviously, Rooney is the most dangerous player in the squad. We have to pay attention to his position and his performance. We have to do better than we did in the last game. But we don't change our shape, our mentality, our
philosophy to control Rooney. We want to play our football at the best level we can.”
Rooney, who was recently banned for two matches by the Football Association for the use of abusive language in front of TV Camera in United’s historic comeback win over West Ham United two weeks ago, is enjoying prime form and has snatched four goals in
his last two matches.
Moreover, the English striker has an amazing record against Chelsea as he has scored in almost every match against the London giants. Rooney, who was banned for United’s win over Fulham on the weekend, will surely going to lead Manchester United’s attack
against Carlo Ancelotti’s men at Old Trafford.
Chelsea has never won the UEFA Champions League and now they are trailing by one goal against Manchester United. Carlo Ancelotti’s must create history to beat Sir Alex Ferguson’s men at Old Trafford- a venue where the Red Devils have yet to suffer a defeat
in the ongoing 2010-11 season.
Even though statistically, http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Chelsea-c38786 does not stand a chance against Manchester United at Old Trafford, Carlo Ancelotti is confident that his team has the character and strength to overhaul Sir Alex Ferguson’s men at their home.
