Chelsea manager Carlo Ancelotti: The exchange of Kaka for Drogba is fantasy football
Chelsea boss Carlo Ancelotti dismissed rumors of the Blues considering to swap hit man http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Didier-Drogba-c11044 for Real Madrid midfielder Kaka. The Italian boss spoke after speculation that Drogba was nearing a Chelsea exit and that the Blues would prefer to trade
him for Brazilian International Kaka.
Since the arrival of Fernando Torres during the January transfer window, the Ivorian striker’s future at Stamford Bridge has become unsure especially with Ancelotti preferring the former http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Liverpool-c39809 striker over Drogba in recent fixtures.
It is expected that Drogba will most likely join former http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Chelsea-c38786 boss Jose Mourinho, who is now in charge of Real Madrid. The two enjoyed a close relationship at Chelsea, when Mourinho led the Blues to their back to back English Premier League trophies.
After Mourinho’s mid season departure, Drogba was visibly upset and on many occasions revealed he no longer wished to stay at Stamford Bridge. However, he always ended up staying which was mostly because he enjoyed being the main striker at the London club.
That has changed with the arrival of http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Fernando-Torres-c13707; the 26-year-old Spaniard is rumored to be a replacement for the 32-year-old. Chelsea paid a record breaking £50 million at the deadline day of the January transfer window to bring Torres to Stamford Bridge.
Despite the high priced move, Torres has failed to perform and is yet to score his first goal for the Blues. Ancelotti still maintains faith in the World Cup winning striker and said he needed time to adjust to his new side.
The Italian manager claimed he was determined to retain Drogba as well and revealed he would love to bring Kaka, whom he has previously managed, to London but insisted a move was not possible.
Ancelotti said while speaking to reporters, “Will I ask [Chelsea owner Roman] Abramovich for Kaka, [Alexandre] Pato or [Andrea] Pirlo? We have already taken http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/David-Luiz-c10542. The exchange of Kaka for Drogba is fantasy football.”
With about £70 million spent in the January transfer window, Ancelotti did not think Chelsea would be spending in the summer transfer window. The Blues boss insisted his side were focusing on young talent as well, having promoted five players to the senior
squad the past season.
Most of the youngsters were sent out on loan to other sides so they could get first team experience, something Ancelotti could not guarantee at Stamford Bridge.
Ancelotti recently said he expected most of the young players to come back during the summer. The most notable player amongst them is http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Daniel-Sturridge-c10076, who is currently at top form with Bolton. The 21-year-old has scored three goals in three matches, a quite
impressive feat.
The Italian manager claimed his side encouraged young players, and defended their spending, he continued, “I don't think that Chelsea have spent a lot in the last year. We added five players from the youth system instead of five with high salaries.”
