Chelsea manager Carlo Ancelotti not to order team into ‘concentration’; says ‘routine not good for team’
Chelsea FC's manager Carlo Ancelotti has said that little things can make a big difference for his side.
The Italian stressed on the importance of changing the routine in training when the results were not going his way. However, the manager said that he was not planning to impose ‘concentration’ on his current squad, a method that
was introduced by Ancelotti in his managerial days at AC Milan.
In ‘concentration’ the players stayed on the training grounds or at hotels, away from their friends and families, and tried to find a remedy for their poor performances.
He said, “Routine is not good for a team. It is good to change something but not good to break from it totally because we have our philosophy for playing and our philosophy for training. We are changing some things to avoid the
routine of the training everyday but only this. We are now using more tactical sessions to come back to play our football.”
Ancelotti was hopeful that his side will draw inspiration from their double winning campaign last season. The Blues were knocked out in the round of 16 of the UEFA Champions League by Jose Mourinho’s FC Internazionale. However,
the west-Londoners bounced back from the defeat in Europe to clinch the English Premier League and the FA Cup.
The 51-year-old also denied all such rumours that suggest his sacking from the club due to their poor performances in the league.
Carlo claimed that he enjoys a healthy working relationship with the club owner Roman Abramovich and that the Russian has total confidence in him.
He added, “Roman Abramovich understands what the problem is at the moment. We have bad injuries and when we played good football and we were not able to win we lost a little bit of confidence. In this period he is more close to
us compared to the other moments and I think I have trust in him and he has trust in me. It is very important to have the support of the club and the players when the moment is not good. This means we trust each other.”
Meanwhile, Chelsea midfielder John Obi Mikel has said that the players will have to return to the basics of the game if they want to recapture their previous form.
Mikel also expressed his delight on the return to fitness of Frank Lampard and hoped that the Englishman’s comeback will boost the confidence if the squad.
The Nigerian international, who was rested in the Champions League clash against Olympique Marseille in mid-week, is set to feature in the centre of the park in Chelsea’s clash against Tottenham Hotspur.
