Chelsea manager Carlo Ancelotti remains confident about his future at Stamford Bridge
http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Chelsea-c38786 manager Carlo Ancelotti has claimed he has no fears over his job. The Blues boss has dispelled rumours that owner Roman Abramovich would replace him if he fails to bring back the Champions League crown to Stamford Bridge in the ongoing 2010-11 season.
It was speculated that Ancelotti was under intense pressure after his side’s 1-0 defeat to Manchester United in the first leg of their Champions League quarter-final tie at Stamford Bridge. The result means that Chelsea will now have to overcome a one-goal
deficit at Old Trafford if they are to advance to the semi-finals of the tournament.
As if the stakes were not high enough for Ancelotti already, the Champions League trophy is Chelsea’s only chance of winning silverware in the season since Premier League leaders Manchester United are 11 points ahead of them with eight games of the season
left to play.
However, Carlo Ancelotti has refuted claims that his job is on the line when Chelsea travel to Old Trafford for the second leg of the quarter-final tie. The Italian insists that his future at Stamford Bridge does not hinge on whether or not he can lead the
Blues to European glory in the current season.
The Chelsea manager said, “I don't think the decision on my future at the club rests on whether or not I win the Champions League. The club knows me very well, knows my behaviour, and they will take their decision on that. Until now, the support is totally
100%. I don't have a problem with this.”
Ancelotti backed misfiring striker http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Fernando-Torres-c13707 to find his form once again. The Italian claimed that it is only a matter of time before the Spaniard finds the back of the net for his new employers.
The Blues boss concluded, “This is not a good moment for Fernando. But he has the support first from himself - his confidence - and from his manager and team-mates.”
Chelsea are currently fourth in the Premier League standings with 55 points.
