Chelsea manager Carlo Ancelotti satisfied with draw against Copenhagen: UEFA Champion’s League news
http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Chelsea-c38786 manager, Carlo Ancelotti is content with a stalemate draw in the second-leg of the last-16 round of UEFA Champion’s League against FC Copenhagen last night.
The Blues sealed their place for the quarterfinals after winning 2-0 on aggregate basis. They beat the Danish Champions 2-0 in the first leg at Copenhagen, three weeks back.
The Blues squandered a host of goal scoring opportunities and managed only seven shots on target out of total 22 efforts. The 51-year-old tactician is not concerned by his player’s finishing abilities though and said, “Chelsea did not play very well tonight,
because we should have taken advantage of at least one of the many chances we created,”
“We would have been better that way. In any case we didn’t do badly and we didn’t concede many chances to our opponents. So I am really happy about that. We did not need to score because we won 2-0 in the first leg; what we needed was not to let them score
and this way we qualified for the quarter-finals.” added the Chelsea boss.
The former AC Milan manager went on to praise his team for the attitude that they showed on the pitch but thinks that his team needs to put in a more improved effort in the future games. He desperately wanted to qualify for the quarterfinals having missed
out in the last season after being knocked out by http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Inter-c39567 Milan.
Having questioned on the opponent they would like to avoid in the next stage draws, Ancelotti said that he would hope of not being drawn against Manchester United and Barcelona as he fancies a final against either of them.
Ancelotti defended his team selection for dropping http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Michael-Essien-c25294 to the bench; the Italian said that the trio was rested ahead of their all important game against Manchester City at the weekend.
The Copenhagen manager, Stale Solbakken also praised the Chelsea side and admitted that the Blues' physical qualities can help them overcome the best in the business.
