Chelsea manager Carlo Ancelotti has revealed that he thrives on pressure, claiming that the strain he has to endure as the Blues boss keeps him focused and motivated on his target.
It has been a difficult season for Carlo Ancelotti. The Italian has recently seen his side’s chances of retaining their Premier League crown slip away entirely, and Chelsea’s only hope of silverware in the ongoing 2010-11 season now rests in the Champions
League title. However, that faint glimmer of hope is also in trouble of disappearing completely.
The Blues were defeated 1-0 by Manchester United in the first leg of their Champions League quarter-final tie at Stamford Bridge. The result has left Chelsea with a mountain to climb in the return leg at Old Trafford, where they will have to win to ensure
their place in the semi-finals of Europe’s biggest club competition.
It is a task that seems almost impossible, especially since Old Trafford has been a veritable fortress this season. However, Chelsea boss Carlo Ancelotti is confident of his side’s chances of progressing to the last four of the Champions League. It has been
speculated that the Italian’s future at Stamford Bridge hinges on whether or not he can lead Chelsea to the Champions League crown in the ongoing campaign.
However, it is a rumour that has repeatedly been denied by Ancelotti. The Chelsea boss said, “I'm happy to be involved in this game, to use my ability and skill to give the players the best skills to play at their best. My future is already decided. I don't
have a problem about this game. It's not important I have to speak with (owner) Roman (Abramovich). When I have a contract, everything is okay with him.”
Even though he has no fears for his job, Ancelotti still admitted that he is under pressure ahead of the Champions League second leg match against Manchester United. However, the Blues boss claims that the pressure will work to his advantage.
Speaking on the upcoming encounter, Ancelotti said, “A lot of time there's pressure on me, for me it's not bad. The pressure for me keeps me focused and concentrated, to give my players the best possibility to do their best. I'm focused on this, I played
this kind of game with this pressure. But it's not pressure, it's excitement.”
