Chelsea manager Carlo Ancelotti wants his team to improve drastically to win the European and English league
Chelsea manager, Carlo Ancelotti, has demanded his team to show drastic progress in order to triumph against Manchester United at Old Trafford in the second leg of the UEFA Champions League semifinal.
Ancelotti was not happy with his team’s unconvincing win over Wigan Athletic and wants his team to improve quickly if they want to qualify for the next round of the European Competition.
Chelsea marked a 1-0 win over Barclays Premier League minnows, Wigan Athletic, after Florent Malouda’s deflected strike earned Carlo Ancelotti’s men three crucial league points.
However, the Blues, who has scored 14 goals against Wigan Athletic in the last two meetings, looked very thin and wasteful in the attack.
Carlo Ancelotti feels that his players especially attackers need to step up their game against Manchester United.
The former Italian boss admitted that his team has their eyes on the Old Trafford showdown and claimed that Chelsea players are determined to give better performance against Sir Alex Ferguson’s men.
Ancelotti said, “We have to play better but this is normal. To win there, we have to play at our 100%”.
http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Chelsea-c38786 are now trailing by one goal against Manchester United and the Blues must create history to emerge victors at Old Trafford- a stadium where Manchester United have not lost a single fixture in the ongoing 2010-11 season.
However, it was Chelsea that last defeated Sir http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Alex-c4752 Ferguson’s men at their home ground last season.
But, Carlo Ancelotti acknowledged that his team would have to climb a mountain to win at Old Trafford as the Blues are clearly struggling with their form.
Ancelotti added, “Obviously, we have more difficulty compared to last season to score a lot of goals. We are not able to convert the chances that we create”.
However, statistics are against Chelsea ahead of the second leg against Manchester United. Sir Alex Ferguson’s men have never lost a UEFA Champions League tie after winning the first leg and in addition to that only two clubs in the history of the European
Championship have managed to win a UEFA Champions League tie after losing the home leg.
So, Chelsea would also need luck along with strong determination if they are to create history by defeating Manchester United at Old Trafford.
