Chelsea vice-captain and midfielder Frank Lampard revealed he had no plans of retiring after the upcoming 2012 Euro. The Blues second in command was chosen to lead his country against http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Spain-c3011, before which he was questioned on his plans for the future.
While the 33-year-old admitted the fact that he was considered old by many, he did not necessarily feel his football playing days were close to an end. Having been previously dropped by both country and club coaches, Lampard is aware he needs to work hard
to maintain his place in the squad.
Lampard said while speaking to reporters:
“I don't completely accept it (Euro 2012) is my last tournament. By saying that, I've certainly not made up my mind up to pull out of contention post-Euros.”
Keeping in mind the current situation, Lampard believed he could play well past the 2012 Euro, hinting at involvement in the 2014 World Cup, which is scheduled to be held in Brazil. By that time Lampard will be 36 years old and his participation will be
reminiscent of former http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/David-Beckham-c10432.
However, he gave no clear indication of his plans of playing in the World Cup to be held in http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Brazil-c2858. As for the comparison to Beckham, Lampard felt his situation was different from that of the former Manchester United and Real Madrid star, who is now playing

He admitted:
“I'm certainly very realistic. If I feel that it's beyond me to carry on playing, that it's detrimental to myself at Chelsea and I'm not offering enough to England, then I'll make that decision.”
The Chelsea man was sure of one thing though, the fact that he was, at this point in time, not close to retirement for either club or country. The midfielder has proved to be the difference between two sides on various occasions which makes him a valuable
asset for both http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Fabio-c13152 Capello and Andre Villas-Boas.
Lampard continued:
“At the moment, I can't see myself retiring. When you're younger you kind of think you'll maybe retire at a certain age. You see other players doing it.
But, as I've got older, I've started to realise you're a long time retired.”
