English Premier League side http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Frank-Lampard-c14097 will be unavailable for the FA Cup clash against QPR having suffered a calf tear at Norwich City over the weekend.
The 33-year-old was taken off before half time on Saturday in a fixture that finished in a goalless stalemate at Carrow Road. The Blues took away just a point from a relatively easy match when they needed to secure all three points to be able to close the
gap with third place Tottenham Hotspur.
Lampard, who looked to be in pain, was seen with a bandaged leg but manager Andre Villas-Boas revealed he did not think the injury was too serious. The Portuguese manager said he was hopeful he would have the English midfielder back in a short period of
time.
Scans on Lampard revealed the http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/England-c749 international had sustained just a minor injury and that he would be fit for selection in a short while. While Lampard may not be available for the FA Cup clash against Queens Park Rangers, he could return for the Premier
League fixture in midweek.
Chelsea take on Swansea City on 31st January and Lampard will be expected to return for the Blues by then. The midfielder will be taking a break for the FA Cup clash over the weekend and will be able to return for the Premier League fixture on
Tuesday.
An official statement released by the club said:
“A scan on the injury Frank Lampard suffered during the game at Norwich on Saturday shows he has a small tear in a calf muscle.
The midfielder is unlikely to feature in the FA Cup fourth-round match against Queens Park http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Rangers-c40314 on Saturday but is expected to join up with the rest of the squad in Mallorca where they are training this week.”
Despite being dropped from the first team by Villas-Boas, Lampard has gone on to play a major role for the Blues this season. Whether it was a goal scored while coming off the bench as a substitute or a penalty converted, Lampard has undoubtedly been amongst
one of the best players for Chelsea once again this season.
