Chelsea and http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/England-c749 midfielder Frank Lampard urged his teammates to remain professional for the remainder of the season. Even though the Blues are likely to end up without silverware this season, the 32-year-old midfielder advised his side to remain positive
and finish the season on a high note.
Chelsea’s hopes of silverware were brought to end when they were eliminated from the UEFA Champions League quarter-finals by Premier League rivals Manchester United. Despite their best efforts the Blues lost 3-1 on aggregate to the Red Devils, successfully
ending their attempt to win the European cup.
The London side did not have too much luck in the domestic cup competitions either, making early exits from both the Carling Cup and the FA Cup. They are in no position to retain the Premier League title either, currently at third place on the Premier League
table.
They are 11 points behind league leaders Manchester United and have seven games in hand. There is a minute possibility that http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Chelsea-c38786 could go on to win the Premier League, but for that they will have to win their remaining fixtures and United losing theirs.
Despite the negativity and uncertainty surrounding the Blues, Lampard chose to remain positive and said he was eyeing to win the remaining matches. Even though he does not expect to win the league, the midfielder wants to ensure a Champions League spot for
next season.
Lampard said while speaking to reporters, “We have to be completely professional and finish the season as well as we can. We owe that to the club, the fans and to ourselves. We will not switch off until the Premier League title is out of the equation and
our Champions League place is assured.”
Carlo Ancelotti to Roma
Ever since the Champions League exit to Manchester United there has been speculation surrounding Chelsea boss Carlo Ancelotti’s position at the club. It is expected that Chelsea owner Roman Abramovich is looking to replace the Italian at the end of the season.
While Ancelotti has not expressed his desire to leave the London club, insisting he is happy, he might be forced to find another job in the summer if the Russian billionaire does indeed decide to bring in a replacement at the end of the current campaign.
Not that the former AC Milan boss will have trouble finding a club, Serie A side Roma have already made it clear they wish to bring in the Chelsea boss. Adriano Galliani, the AC Milan CEO revealed he believed Ancelotti would do well at Roma.
Galliani said while speaking to reporters, “Carlo loves Roma a lot. He loves the city. They were his first team at the highest level. He has Roma in his heart, but I don't want to get involved in other people's business.”
