Chelsea midfielder John Obi Mikel’s family hears from his father’s kidnappers
http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Chelsea-c38786 midfielder John Obi Mikel’s family has been contacted by the kidnappers, days after his father went missing. The 24-year-old Nigerian was informed about the incident just moments after the opening game of the season against Stoke City by Chelsea
manager Andre Villas-Boas.
The Portuguese manager gave the midfielder the option to sit the match out, but the player decided to go ahead with the match. Mikel spoke to his agent and family and put up a brilliant performance at the Britannia Stadium, in a fixture that ended 0-0.
It has now emerged that the kidnappers have contacted Mikel’s family and have demanded a huge payment. Mikel’s brothers, Ebele Obi and Tony Obi spoke to the media and confirmed that they had indeed been contacted by the kidnappers.
Mikel’s father, http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Michael-c25261 Obi, did not return home from work on Friday and has not been heard from since then. The police were informed over the weekend, and they have been looking for him since then, with little success.
Ebele said his mother had spoken to the kidnappers, who had demanded money but had not as yet revealed how much. He admitted the entire incident had been extremely stressful for his mother, who was having a hard time dealing with the kidnapping of her husband.
Ebele said while speaking to reporters:
“Some people called my mum informing her that they have her husband in custody.
My mum, while crying, pleaded with the abductors to release her husband. They asked her to go and look for money but declined to state how much.”
Mikel’s eldest brother, http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Tony-c35440, revealed the kidnappers had told them where to look for his father’s car and they had even heard their father’s voice over the phone, which confirmed he was still alive. He revealed the family was hopeful of recovering Michael
safely.
Tony Obi said:
“We got two calls from the abductors who confirmed that our father is in their custody. They told me where to locate my dad's car, which has been found, but I do not want to disclose the location for now.
“We have heard our father's voice. At least we now know that he is alive. The family is happy, relieved but still we plead with the abductors to release our father.”
