Chelsea midfielder Michael Essien backs under-fire striker Fernando Torres – EPL news
Chelsea playmaker http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Michael-Essien-c25294 believes that the out of form striker Fernando Torres will soon end his goal drought despite the fact that the Spaniard has already played more than ten games for the London giants.
Essien told Chelsea’s official website, “Nando is one of the best strikers in the world at the moment and when he starts scoring all the noise about him will stop. It's just a matter of time and he's coming into a new club where he needs to settle, but we
have no doubt about him.”
“As you can see he has been working really hard and he has the support from everyone so it is going to come, we just have to be patient, but he will start scoring for us and everything will be fine,” added the African midfielder.
http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Liverpool-c39809 striker could not live up to the expectations
of the Chelsea fans and his barren run in front of the goal has already drawn a lot of criticism.
Michael Essien believes that Fernando Torres is a world-class striker and will need some more time to settle at Chelsea. The African midfielder is confident that the Stamford Bridge faithful will soon witness Torres emulating his Liverpool form, where he
scored 65 times in 102 appearances.
However, Torres’ failure to find the net has also put him under huge pressure but Michael Essien insisted that every Chelsea player has shown full support to the Spaniard. The former Atletico Madrid striker will be in the spotlight as he is expected to start
in Chelsea’s second leg of the UEFA Champions League quarter-final against Manchester United at Old Trafford.
Nonetheless, Fernando Torres showed the glimpses of his best in the recent matches for Chelsea and if the Spaniard manages to score a match-winning goal against Manchester United, then he could perhaps justify his transfer deal.
