http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Chelsea-c38786 midfielder Ramires has revealed he would be interested in a move back to Cruzeiro, but admitted it seemed highly unlikely that the move would go through.
The 25-year-old, who played a big role for the Blues in their FA Cup and UEFA Champions League winning season, admitted he would not mind returning Brazilian side http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Ramires-c30523 revealed he believed it was highly unlikely his former side could
afford his wages.
Ramires moved to Cruzeiro in the winter transfer window of 2008 from Joinville for a fee of $300,000. He went on to become an instant hit at the club and during his time there went on to make 61 appearances in the league and scored 12 goals.
He transferred to Benfica in 2009 and after just a year, moved to English Premier League giants Chelsea for a fee of €22 million. In his debut season with the Blues, Ramires made 41 appearances in all competitions and found the back of the net twice.
His second season with the London side was more successful; he made 44 appearances in all competitions and along with 12 goals, provided six assists. He finished the 2011-2012 season by winning the Chelsea Players’ Player of the Year award and after winning
the European trophy, seems to be open to a move away.
Ramires said in an interview:
“If Cruzeiro are interested, it's possible for me to go back. Although it's not a decision I can make and difficult because my price is very high. If Cruzeiro could raise the money, I would go back for sure.
I was happy at Cruzeiro and felt an obligation to return at some point as the club offered me a chance to launch my sport career in Europe.”
According to Ramires, he was open to the idea of a return to Cruzeiro but admitted it was highly unlikely that the move would go through. While Chelsea are not looking to part ways with the Brazil international any time soon, Cruzeiro will be unable to afford
his wages.
He revealed:
“I still follow their matches on the internet. The fans were always good to me and named me 'Ramires the Warrior'.”
