Chelsea must retain Carlo Ancelotti as their manager – English Premier League (Part 2)
With no investment in the 2010 summer transfer window apart from Ramirez and a massive exodus of star names such as http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Deco-c10735, Chelsea were still the favourites to win the Premier League title once again in the 2010-2011
season. This wasn’t due to the strength and depth of their own squad but due to the lack of investment showcased by their rivals in the summer transfer window of 2010. Manchester United, Chelsea’s biggest rivals in the race for the Premier League crown bought
Javier Hernandez and Bebe in the last transfer window.
Chelsea’s midfield was seen as a much stronger one as compared to Manchester United and rightly so. To add to all of the hype, Ancelotti’s team started the season in blistering form. They blitzed into a five point lead at the top
of the Premier League table but then disaster struck for the London club. http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/John-Terry-c18895 got injured and Frank Lampard’s hernia operation ruled him out for an extended period of time as well. With two stalwarts of the club out of action, Chelsea’s form dipped.
Manchester United peaked at the right time and Sir http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Alex-c4752 Ferguson’s men stormed into the lead at the top of the table. Now as the season winds down, United have already sealed their 19th top flight title. So the question
remains whether or not Ancelotti should be retained as Chelsea’s manager?
There is a very simple answer to this question. The answer is yes. Yes, Ancelotti should be retained as Chelsea’s manager because football clubs crave longevity. If Roman Abramovich wants to get his hands on the European Cup then
Chelsea’s Russian owner will have to realize that patience pays off in trophies as money can only take you so far.
There is no doubt that Ancelotti has made his fair share of mistakes. http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Chelsea-c38786 haven’t been that impressive in Europe under him but the former Milan manager is still trying to reform the club in order to get the best out of his
players.
One thing that should not be doubted however is Ancelotti’s ability to take Chelsea to the top. As a manager and as a tactician, Carlo is seen respected and viewed as an exceptional football manager. Roman Abramovich should give
his Italian employee some time and space so that Chelsea can rise as a football power. It is the Russian’s willingness to throw money at the Blues’ problems and to part ways with world class managers at his personal whim that has done Chelsea’s European ambitions
more harm than good.
Roman’s aim at Chelsea should be to create a sustainable course of action for the club so that the Blues’ can impose themselves on all fronts. This is only possible by keeping Ancelotti as Chelsea’s manager and giving him sufficient
funds to buy the players he wants rather than the Roman’s favourite footballers. After all it is Chelsea F.C not Roman Collection F.C.
