Chelsea players fear Ancelotti’s departure

Chelsea players are under the impression that manager Carlo Ancelotti has had enough at Stamford Bridge and may soon be on his way out. This comes as no surprise since this is Chelsea’s worst run in the English Premier League in over a decade. Their last
win came in November over Fulham, which means the Blues have only won two games out of their last eight fixtures.
Their latest fixture was against Tottenham at White Hart Lane, which ended in a 1-1 draw. The Blues were disappointed without having left without a win, especially since they came so close with a penalty awarded to them in added time. Instead of the regular
penalty-taker Frank Lampard, it was Ivorian striker Didier Drogba who stepped up to take the spot kick and missed it.
This continued their winless streak and the frustration grew amongst the fans and most probably the owner Roman Abramovich. He is believed to be growing impatient with the Italian manager and if the sudden dismissal of assistant coach Ray Wilkins is any
way to predict the future, then it seems it’s only a matter of time Carlo Ancelotti is on his way out.
There have been countless rumours that there are internal power struggles between the owner and the manager, who claimed to have no prior knowledge of Ray Wilkins’ dismissal. This is a recipe for a disillusioned manager and an unhappy owner, which could
signal the Ancelotti’s reign at Stamford Bridge, sooner than expected.
A close source to the club revealed, "The atmosphere isn't good at the moment. Everyone is convinced Carlo has had enough, though absolutely everyone is desperate for him to stay. He's very, very popular with the players, who believe that he is an excellent
manager. But there's no doubt the squad itself is unsettled and cliques are starting to form."
Other reports suggest that some French speaking players in the squad have blamed their team-mates for the recent slump in poor performance and there seems to be a divide in the team. However, Ancelotti did recently claim he intended to stay at the club for
the next ten years. But with the growing discontent, that may not be the case.
