English Premier League side http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Chelsea-c38786 opened up about their plans regarding redeveloping Stamford Bridge and the possibility of moving into a new stadium altogether.
The London side published a summary of the points presented to the Chelsea Pitch Owners last week, in which they listed all the points they felt proved that increasing the capacity of Stamford Bridge was impossible, therefore leaving them with little choice
but to move stadiums.
The CPO had previously accused the club of not exploring all options of expanding the stadium but wanting to move to a new venue altogether. However, it now seems that it is no longer a possibility to expand Stamford Bridge to a larger capacity.
The club said in a statement:
“We are not in any way stating that the club has made a decision on the need to move.
This is certainly not the case and the board and the owner are, as we have continually said, keen to stay at Stamford Bridge.”
According to the official statement released by the club, the owner and the management, like the CPO were keen to stay at Stamford Bridge. However, that might no longer be a possibility since it had proved to be somewhat impossible to increase the capacity
to the desired 60,000 seats.
It continued:
“The club's exercise over the years has been to analyse a large spectrum of possible expansion options, even some which would appear to be unworkable.
The board recognises that our work will not satisfy every fan, but the board also believes its work has been thorough, appropriate and in the best interests of the club and all of our fans.”
The Chelsea Pitch Owners released a statement of their own, claiming the presentation made by the club had been open regarding the issue. They also claimed that their main motive was to work in the best interest of the club and the supporters.
The CPO released a statement:
“The presentations were very open, with regular input, questions and points made by the CPO board. All were responded to with clarity and transparency by the club and the experts they had brought along.”
