Chelsea skipper http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/John-Terry-c18895: I was cheering for Arsenal – EPL special
It was just a few weeks back that Chelsea looked to be all but out of the English Premier League title race, and it had become a two horse race for the English crown between Manchester United and Arsenal. The Blues manager, Carlo Ancelotti, had even conceded
that the title was beyond them.
However, a fantastic turnaround in their fortunes has seen the defending champions spring back their title bid into life, and some results in other games involving Manchester United and Arsenal has certainly helped their cause in a big way. The most significant
of those results for them was the Arsenal win against Manchester United on the weekend. The loss for United means that Chelsea now trail the league leaders by just three points and have 3 games to play with the next game being the visit to Old Trafford.
The determination http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Chelsea-c38786 have shown in recent weeks to retain the trophy proves that they are hungry for success, and do not want to let go of the title that easily. Terry said that he wants to win the title so bad that he had no hesitations in putting
his weight behind one of the fiercest Chelsea rivals, Arsenal, on Sunday.
Terry said that he jumped and cheered for Gunners on Sunday, and for the duration of the match he was an Arsenal supporter.
"I was an Arsenal fan for 90 minutes and now we've given ourselves the best possible chance of winning the title again," Terry said,
The defeat for Manchester United was coupled with a controversial but hard fought win for Chelsea on Saturday against Tottenham. The momentum is certainly with Chelsea going into the big game against Manchester United and a win will put them level on points
with the Red Devils with two more games to go.
John Terry admitted that there is no doubt that the next game for them is very crucial in the title hunt.
"The match at Old Trafford is now huge for us and for United," Terry admitted.
The Chelsea centre back believes that it was the 2-1 win over United in the league that ignited the comeback for his team. In their last 9 games Chelsea have not been beaten and only one of those has been a draw since the win against Manchester United.
"We showed them what we're all about when we beat them at Stamford Bridge.
"If we had lost that, they would have been 18 points ahead of us which would have put them out of sight”. Said Terry
Chelsea did start the season as favourites to win the title and owing much to sublime early season form, they were dubbed as the champions elect. However things took a turn for worse for the defending champions in the last two months of 2010. Blues slipped
from first position to 4th and later 5th in the league. Should they manage to win the league this season, it will be one of the most dramatic comeback league wins of all time.
