Chelsea skipper John Terry desperate to retain English Premier League title and beat Manchester United
Chelsea’s skipper, http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/John-Terry-c18895, revealed that he was desperate to win the English Premier League title, once again, this season.
The 30-year-old England international has led his side through a roller-coaster ride this season as the Blues recovered from a terrible slump, their worst in over 15 years, to emerge as title contenders once again.
Chelsea travels to Old Trafford on Sunday, May 8th, to take on league leaders, Manchester United, currently three points ahead of the Blues.
A win over the Red Devils will guarantee Chelsea a place at the top of the table as they will be level on points with United, but ahead on goal difference.
The Blues’ skipper was confident that his side could retain the Premier League title with a win over the weekend. Terry is certain that his side had recovered from their mid-season slump.
While speaking to reporters, he said, “Each season you know you are going to hit a bad spell and it is about how quickly you can get out of it. We got out of it very quickly last year, and have taken a little bit longer this time - but once again we are
right back in the frame”.
The Blues have made an impressive comeback to challenge Manchester United for the Premier League crown, with just three games remaining in the season. The London side overcame a 15 point difference in just two months to once again be considered title contenders.
A win over Sir http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Alex-c4752 Ferguson could be the only obstacle in their way to clench back-to-back titles once again.
Terry recently made his 500th appearance for Chelsea and is the most successful captain, the club has had.
Under him the Blues have gone on to win four FA Cup trophies, three English Premier League titles and two Carling Cups and Community Shields.
The http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/England-c749 international revealed his intention to lead his side to yet another Premier League title this season.
Last season, Chelsea defeated Manchester United at Old Trafford and Terry insisted that his side could do it again.
He continued, “We showed when we went to Old Trafford and won last year, which was the decisive game, that we could do it. There is no reason why we cannot do it again. There is nothing I want more than to bring that trophy back”.
Terry admitted that a win over the Red Devils at Manchester last year was important in guaranteeing the Premier League title and is certain that it is the same case this season.
The Blues won a historic first ever double under Italian manager, Carlo Ancelotti, last season, and even though they were eliminated from the FA Cup early in the season, they will be looking to retain the league title to get some silverware.
