Chelsea and http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/England-c749 skipper John Terry admitted he was supporting Arsenal on Sunday when the Gunners faced league leaders Manchester United in the English Premier League. The Gunners 1-0 win over the Red Devils threw the title race wide open with just three
games remaining in the season.
With Chelsea registering a controversial but crucial 2-1 win over London rivals Tottenham Hotspur at Stamford Bridge on Saturday, United were under pressure to get a good result when they travelled to the Emirates Stadium a day later.
However, they failed to register a win or even secure a draw, losing 1-0 to Arsene Wenger’s young side. While the Gunner’s win over the weekend gave them a guaranteed top three finish, it gave their London rivals a more than decent shot at retaining the
Premier League title.
The Blues are in second place, just three points behind Sir Alex Ferguson’s side, who are currently top of the table with 73 points. With three games remaining and Chelsea travelling to Old Trafford next weekend, they stand a realistic chance of presenting
United with a challenge for the league.
Terry told reporters, “I was an Arsenal fan for 90 minutes and now we've given ourselves the best possible chance of winning the title again. The match at Old Trafford is now huge for us and for United.”
The Chelsea captain was confident his side could repeat their success against Manchester United at Stamford Bridge earlier on in the season. The Blues went on to defeat United 2-1 and Terry was certain they could do it again on Sunday at Old Trafford.
The Chelsea defender continued, “We showed them what we're all about when we beat them at Stamford Bridge. If we had lost that, they would have been 18 points ahead of us which would have put them out of sight. So to get the gap back down to just three points
shows what we've achieved.”
The Blues defender warned Ferguson’s side that the Blues would fight until the end to reclaim the Premier League trophy. He said, “We've never allowed ourselves to stop believing we could come back, and United know we will never give up.”
A victory at Old Trafford could propel Chelsea to the top of the Premier League table once again, since both sides have the same goal difference. An explosive clash can be expected when United host Chelsea, since both sides have everything to fight for.
