Chelsea skipper John Terry not concerned with poor record at Wembley ahead of Wales clash
Chelsea and England captain http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Switzerland-c3016,
Wales and Bulgaria, but have not managed the same at home.
In fact, it has been about a year since the England team registered a win at Wembley, a highly embarrassing statistic. However, Terry revealed he was not concerned with the fact ahead of the match against Wales, claiming it was not worth thinking about.
The Chelsea defender revealed he had been with the London club when they set the record for the longest streak of unbeaten matches at home in the English Premier League. During Jose Mourinho’s reign, Stamford Bridge became somewhat a fortress and the Blues
went 86 matches without a loss in front of their home supporters.
However, the record which lasted from 20th March 2004 to 26th October 2008 was ended by http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Liverpool-c39809 when Luiz Felipe Scolari was in charge of the Blues. Terry felt that while there was a natural advantage when playing at home, it did
not necessarily guarantee a win.
Terry said in an interview:
“It is not becoming a concern. People can look too much into that. I don't think there is any real logic to that at all.
At http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Chelsea-c38786 I've gone years without losing at home and then all of a sudden that changes.
You suddenly can't buy a win at home. This is football really.”
Terry urged his side to build up on their win over Bulgaria, which saw England secure all three points with a 3-0 win. Bolton Wanderers defender http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Wayne-Rooney-c36736 scored two goals, all before half time,
to help award his side the win.
The central defender was confident another strong performance could guarantee them a win over http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/England-c749 moving to the top of the group, something Terry said he was aiming for.
He continued:
“We believe if we put in as good a performance as the other night in http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Bulgaria-c2861, then we should be okay.
Three points is key but we are in a good position. Our destiny is in our hands once again. If we win, it will be nice to sit top of the group for a while.”
