http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/John-Terry-c18895 praises new manager Andre Villas-Boas
New Chelsea manager Andre Villas-Boas has the entire Blues squad singing his praise, with skipper John Terry being the recent player to pay tribute to the former http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/FC-Porto-c39186 manager. Having worked just a month under him, the Blues are convinced he is the right
manager for them.
Chelsea performed incredibly well in their pre-season tour of Asia, eventually going on to win the Barclays Asia Trophy. In addition to not losing a single fixture, the London side maintained an impressive clean sheet throughout the pre-season.
The Chelsea and http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/England-c749 captain claimed he was already a fan of the young Portuguese manager after observing his training methods. He said Villas-Boas had made a huge impression on him and he was eager to play under the Portuguese manager in the upcoming
season.
Terry revealed Villas-Boas had impressed the entire squad upon his return to Stamford Bridge, this time as the manager. The Portuguese previously worked under former Chelsea boss Jose Mourinho as a scout, but later parted ways with him to pursue his own
managerial career.
Terry said in an interview:
“He's come in and, really, from day one, he's been on the ball and on the button with us all.
So we're all intrigued to see what he can bring over the next few weeks and the forthcoming season.”
Villas-Boas has implemented his highly attacking mentality, as opposed to the previously applied defensive approach. That has seen the Blues take Asia by storm, winning all their fixtures with style and without conceding a single goal.
Terry revealed training sessions with Villas-Boas were highly effective and claimed they had played an important role in the Blues highly successful pre-season. The 30-year-old defender seems like a much better player under the new manager, along with the
rest of the squad.
Terry continued:
“One thing I've really been impressed with is the training side of things.
There's a real emphasis - whether that's because it's pre-season at the moment - on the way he wants us to play, individually, collectively.”
The former FC Porto manager believes in squad rotation and unlike his predecessor Carlo Ancelotti, has managed to successfully rotate the squad. Even if this is just pre-season, it has proved that the Blues are capable of success in the upcoming season.
Having impressed his players, Villas-Boas will now attempt to silence and impress his critics in the new Premier League season. With constant comparisons to Mourinho, Villas-Boas has high expectations to live up to in terms of delivering silverware in his
very first season.
Terry believes the new manager is very much capable of that, having displayed his managerial skills in the Blues unbeaten run in pre-season. The Blues central defender revealed Villas-Boas was a modern manager which helped him understand players better and
deliver better results.
Terry said:
“Andre is a modern manager.
The thing that impresses me, he understands the players. He's not old school.”
