Chelsea skipper John Terry unable to explain loss to Manchester United

Chelsea and http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/John-Terry-c18895 failed to explain his side’s poor performance against league leaders Manchester United at Old Trafford on Sunday. The Blues went into the game three points behind Manchester United, with a chance to overtake the Red
Devils with a win in the third last fixture of the season.
However, the Blues stumbled to a disappointing 2-1 loss, as Manchester United scored early on and maintained their lead. Chelsea were left chasing and could not catch up, with Lampard’s consolation goal coming too late in the game to make a difference to
either side.
The Chelsea skipper admitted he could not explain why his side failed to get a result at Old Trafford, having defeated Manchester United earlier on in the season at Stamford Bridge. Their defeat to Sir http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Alex-c4752 Ferguson’s side successfully ended their late title
challenge and left Manchester United with just a single point away from claiming their 19th league title.
Terry said while speaking to reporters, “I'm not sure. We were fully prepared and it's one of those things. Disappointing day but, going back two months, we would've taken this - being in the position (three points behind United at the start of the game).”
The 31-year-old defender claimed his side should have been better prepared to take on the league leaders, which they apparently weren’t as they conceded the first goal in the first minute of the match. That may have very well been enough to dampen the Blues
spirit and affect the rest of the game, which United continued to dominate.
The Blues skipper continued, “We came here hoping and praying that we started well and the role was completely reversed. They had a great start and got the early goal, which settled them. But, first half, we didn't deserve anything from the game at all.”
Terry revealed his side had belief in themselves and were confident they could go on to win the game and go top of the table once again. Unfortunately, the early goal by Javier Hernandez changed everything for the Blues, including their chances of retaining
the title.
The second goal by Manchester United skipper http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Nemanja-Vidic-c27550 only made things worse, but Chelsea pressed on. They were notably the better side but the lack of goals says otherwise and the consolation by Lampard was not enough to put the Blues back in the game.
Terry revealed he felt his side had improved considerably in the second half, he said, “I thought second half we came out, we had nothing to lose and went for it and dominated the second half. It just would've been interesting to get that second goal and
get it back to level terms.”
While he was disappointed at not having won the match, Terry said he was proud of his side’s performance in the second half. Though they may no longer be in a position to retain the Premier League crown, this Chelsea side has come a long way.
From being 15 points behind Manchester United to just 3 in two months, this is a http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Chelsea-c38786 side the Blues owner Roman Abramovich should be proud of. They have a guaranteed spot in next season’s Champions League and a promise to perform better next season.
