Chelsea star Juan Mata defends Andre Villas-Boas, Portuguese manager urges http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Fernando-Torres-c13707 to wait
Juan Mata, who once again had a big role to play in the Blues’ 3-0 win over Wolverhampton Wanderers over the weekend, revealed the squad was a 100% behind manager Andre Villas-Boas. The Portuguese’s position at Stamford Bridge was under question after a series of poor results, but the 23-year-old Spaniard insisted the team was supporting Villas-Boas.
The 34-year-old Portuguese manager took charge of the London club in the summer, after Chelsea owner Roman Abramovich sacked previous manager Carlo Ancelotti. Mata said in an interview:
“It's never easy to have such negative results, but we all have a lot of faith in ourselves as a team. We have a lot of faith in our coach and in the quality of the squad.
We had a team meeting last week simply to reiterate that we are all together and that we are heading in the same direction and we showed that against Wolves.”
Meanwhile, Andre Villas-Boas defended his decision to not start with striker Fernando Torres. Villas-Boas claimed the striker would get plenty of chances to start and prove himself as the season progressed, but had to be patient.
