Chelsea starlet Gael Kakuta on his controversial move from Lens

19 year old Chelsea youngster Gael Kakuta has been speaking about his move from his former club, Lens, to the English Champions Chelsea and has said that he did nothing wrong throughout the ordeal. The young player was banned for four months by FIFA whereas Chelsea were banned from buying any new players for two transfer windows.
The bans were given by FIFA after Lens complained about Chelsea’s acquisition of the Frenchman. The French club argued that Chelsea had made an illegal approach for the player, forcing him to break his contract with the club he had been with for eight years.
FIFA found Chelsea guilty and handed out historic bans to both the player and the club but after Chelsea appealed to the Court of Arbitration for sport. The decision was over turned as it was found that there was no valid contract at the time of the transfers and so neither Chelsea nor Kakuta had committed any infringements.
Kakuta is one of the players Chelsea manager Carlo Ancelotti has said will be part of the squad for the coming season, which shows how highly he is rated by the Italian. Judging from the manner in which Kakuta has dealt with the issue of his ban, it seems that he has matured beyond his age and could go on to become one of regulars at Chelsea in the future.
When asked about his reaction to the ban, Kakuta claimed that he stayed calm throughout as he felt that he had nothing to feel guilty about. Lens have accused the youngster of being ungrateful to the coaches and scouts who helped him develop while at the club and he should have stayed there to repay some of the faith put in him by those people.
Kakuta, however, pushed aside those claims and made it clear that he could not care less about what had happened then and wanted to concentrate on his football.
After impressing for the Chelsea reserves last season, Kakuta made his much anticipated Premier League debut against Wolves in November, 2009. He was very impressive in the game, replacing Nicolas Anelka, and taking a number of good shots while going past his opponents.
Since that game, Kakuta has gained in popularity in the Chelsea ranks and after his Champions League debut against APOEL, a match Chelsea drew 2-2, Carlo Ancelotti proclaimed him as the future of Chelsea football club and praised Kakuta for impressing him during training.
It remains to be seen whether Kakuta will be able to make a place for himself in the Chelsea first team next season but at just 19, the time is on his side and in the company of some of the best players in the world, the French star can only improve with time.
If Carlo Ancelotti keeps his promise of using the younger players more in the upcoming season, Kakuta will have more than enough opportunities to establish himself at the club and with the French National team on the brink of an overhaul, he could even push himself in the reckoning for the French team, having already played at the under 17 and under 19 level.
