http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Petr-Cech-c29837 revealed he was set to meet up with the club officials after the New Year’s period to continue negotiations over a new contract with the Blues.
With Cech’s contract supposed to run out the year after next, the Blues are in a rush to sign an extension with the 29-year-old as soon as possible. While informal discussions have already begun, Cech revealed they would sit down for formal talks after the
hectic New Year’s period.
Cech said while speaking to reporters:
“The last few weeks have been hectic and over Christmas it will be even worse in that aspect. We will meet after New Year's Day.”
The http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Czech-Republic-c2882 international was certain it was best to wait for the talks, since the club would be really busy over these upcoming days. He admitted Christmas and New Year’s time was very hectic, because of which he wanted to wait.
However, the stopper thought it was highly unlikely he would leave Stamford Bridge. According to Cech, the Blues were one of the best club’s in the world and he was lucky to be in the starting line-up. He did not have a reason to leave because of which he
saw himself staying.
Cech continued:
“I have been here for eight years and I have been more or less a regular starter, so I'm more than happy. Ever since I was a kid I wanted to be at a club that is among the best in the world.
Chelsea are in the world's top competition, so I have no reason to leave. I would like to see myself staying.”
However, Cech admitted there was a slight possibility that he could part ways with the Blues sometime in the future. Despite committing himself to the London side, Cech revealed that football was unpredictable and he could sign a ten year contract and leave
after three years.
He revealed:
“If I would like to try something new it would have to be a club of a similar level like Chelsea.”
Cech’s new contract is expected to be until the end of 2017, but there are no confirmation as yet.
