http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Chelsea-c38786 stopper Petr Cech urges Blues to return to winning ways
Chelsea goalkeeper http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Petr-Cech-c29837 urged teammates and supporters to not panic over the recent poor results the Blues had undergone in the English Premier League and the UEFA Champions League. However, he urged his side to overcome the mini-slump before it was
too late.
The Blues have now suffered two consecutive defeats in the English Premier League, Queens Park http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Arsenal-c38429 at Stamford Bridge in an eight goal thriller. While they attempted to put their disappointment behind them in the Champions
League against Genk, they stumbled to a 1-1 draw.
This leaves them with just one win in their last four games in all competitions, something which is not at all where the Blues want to be if they wish to remain title contenders this season. Early on in the season and Chelsea are trailing league leaders
Manchester City by nine points, a huge gap.
Cech said in an interview:
“You can't give good teams too much of an advantage.
It's one thing we don't want to do. The sooner we start cutting down their advantage, the better it will be for us and we will put them under more pressure.”
The 29-year-old Chelsea stopper was determined to return to winning ways since he was aware they could not afford to lose any more points. The Manchester sides already have too big an advantage over Chelsea and Cech did not want to help them out further.
He revealed:
“There is a long way to go - anything can happen - especially in the Premier League.
Obviously, our opponents have an advantage at the moment, but we have to keep working, get the wins and see what's going to happen.”
While he admitted it was still early on in the season and with the Premier League being so unpredictable, anything could happen, he wanted his team to be at their best. The back to back defeats in the Premier League means Chelsea cannot afford to slip up
against Blackburn http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Rovers-c40385 on Sunday.
The Chelsea stopper added:
“We had two results we didn't wish for, which was the loss against Arsenal and the draw to Genk.
But the best way to forget about this is to win games.”
