Sources reveal Chelsea striker Daniel Sturridge is considering leaving the club to reunite with former Blues manager Andre Villas-Boas at Tottenham Hotspur.
The Portuguese manager Andre Villas-Boas was sacked as manager of Chelsea after he failed to deliver decent results. His assistant manager Roberto Di Matteo was made the caretaker manager for the rest of the season and he managed to deliver the FA Cup and
UEFA Champions League in just a few months.
While the Italian was made the permanent manager at the club, Andre Villas-Boas remained unemployed until recently. He was appointed as the manager at Tottenham Hotspur, with the North-London side having also recently sacked their manager.
Villas-Boas replaces Harry Redknapp at White Hart Lane and has been linked with players from his previous clubs, including http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Daniel-Sturridge-c10076. In fact, the English striker is the only player from Chelsea who has been linked with a move to Tottenham Hotspur.
The main reason for his desire to join the Spurs is the fact that Villas-Boas chose to play Sturridge on a regular basis after the player returned from his loan spell at Bolton Wanderers. However, under http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Roberto-c31294 Di Matteo, Sturridge found himself pushed to
the side.
The striker who has been selected in the Great Britain squad for the Olympics previously revealed in an interview earlier on how he preferred playing Villas-Boas. He admitted the former Blues manager had helped him improve his game.
Sturridge was reported to have said:
“The manager has helped me a lot. He's playing me a lot so I can't complain. I've not had a http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Chelsea-c38786 manager do that for me before. It's helped me so much because previously I've not had a chance to play week in and week out, except when I was on loan
at Bolton.”
Sturridge transferred to Chelsea in the summer transfer window of 2009 from Manchester City for an initial fee of 3.5 million pounds. He has made 82 appearances in all competitions since then, scored 22 goals and provided ten assists.
He also spent the latter half of the 2010-2011 season at Bolton Wanderers, where he scored eight goals in 12 appearances in the Premier League, proving to Chelsea that he was prepared to play regular first team football.
