Chelsea striker http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Fernando-Torres-c13707 claimed in a recent interview that his former club Liverpool had lied about his sudden exit from the club in the last January transfer window.
The 27-year-old striker left Anfield in a record breaking 50 million pound move to Chelsea in the January transfer window of 2010. He was heavily criticised by the Reds supporters for his unexpected departure, but the forward revealed the truth behind his
departure had not been revealed.
According to Torres, the Liverpool fans were still not entirely aware of the reason why he had left the club to join Chelsea in the winter transfer window. He revealed there were empty promises made to him, upon the discovery of which he finally decided
to leave the club.
Torres said while speaking to reporters:
“The Liverpool fans don't know the truth about why I signed for Chelsea. The fans don't even know half of what happened. They don't know what the people in charge at http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Liverpool-c39809 are like - they have a completely different perception of what they are like.”
After manager Rafael Benitez was sacked, Torres never really settled in at the club and his form under Roy Hodgson suffered. There was no such difference when Kenny Dalglish took over and it was then that the Spaniard decided to join Chelsea.
He continued:
“They made promises that they didn't keep and I left because I realised I didn't have time to be part of a project that would take years.”
However, since joining the Blues, Torres has not been in the best of goal scoring forms. Since the beginning of this year Torres has made a total of 36 appearances and has only scored five goals with six assists. He was aware of his poor performance and
revealed he was looking to improve.
His poor form for club has coincided with that of http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Spain-c3011 and the forward revealed he was aware that in order to do well for country he needed to secure a place in the starting XI for the Blues.
Torres said:
“If I go back to how I was a few years ago, I will again play an important role in the Spanish national team. I am going to try to be very humble and get back into the http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Chelsea-c38786 starting line-up.”
